History

Dick and HoraceneFor the past 28+ years Dick Daugird, President and wife Horacene, Sec./Treas. have helped feed thousands of people, helping other non-profits with their fundraising events, by providing food cooked and/or served on site with the custom trailers built by volunteers. The Daugird’s have underwritten the cost of building the majority of the trailers now opened by Texas Lighthouse Foundation dba Lighthouse Charity Team, a 501(C)3.

To date, the Daugird’s have funded this non-profit with over $1,000,000 from their credit union, bank loans and retirement account as they believe in helping others. In addition to that, monies and time donated by Scott Gordon, VP and his wife Heather, over 22 Years and $250,000, have resulted in the Lighthouse Charity Team being virtually debt free.

Operating expenses have been funded by the many Sponsors and people that attend our annual Lighthouse Charity Team Fundraiser each January. Our most recent event held on January 26, 2012 at Knights of Columbus Hall in Pearland raised almost $250,000 before expenses. 700 people were in attendance with food donated by Outback Steakhouse, beverages by Del Papa Distributing and entertainment by Nashville Recording Artist Tracy Lawrence.

Bio-GordonScott and Heather organize this event every year, creating an evening to remember for each and every guest.

The slogan used by the Lighthouse Charity Team of “People Helping People” has been recognized by many, especially when they see the custom made red trailers manned by volunteers in red shirts and red hats.

In addition to helping other non-profits, less fortunate, medical patients, accident victim’s and many others, we have been called to provide nourishing meals during disaster response and emergency assistance to man made and natural disasters.

Unlike most charities, our Officers, Board Members and Volunteers have never received compensation for their efforts..
