It is with sorrowful hearts that we mourn the passing of our founder, friend, mentor and Lighthouse Keeper, Dick Daugird.

After a battle with cancer, Dick passed away peacefully Monday morning at his home in Galveston with his wife and family by his side.

Dick was a giant of a man with a heart to match. Dick’s commitment to community service shone brightly for decades throughout the Lighthouse Charity Team founded by him and his wife, Horacene. Dick’s passion for helping others in the community at times was a personal financial strain, but he always said, “There’s more to life than dollars and cents”.

Dick always had a welcoming smile, firm handshake and a willing ear to listen. He never met a stranger as he believed that “a stranger is someone that is not yet a friend”.

The family requests that donations be made in Dick’s honor to the Lighthouse Charity Team.

People Helping People – Cooking for a Cause

The Lighthouse Charity Team was founded on a love of cooking and feeding others. Like many Texans our experience began in the backyard with the brick pit where we smoked brisket, ribs, turkey and more. Now, we cook for cause. In fact we cook for many causes. Lighthouse Charity Team provides mobile food preparation trailers, trucks and volunteer labor to charitable organizations as well as emergency response to natural and man-made disasters.

Our loyal volunteers and donors invest themselves in many projects from raising money for non profits to participating in hands on programs to assist low income families and the elderly. We always look for ways we can make a difference in the life of our neighbors.

LIGHTHOUSE CHARITY TEAM’S
ANNUAL GALA

Lighthouse Charity Team’s annual “fun”draising event was held at Providence Plantation in Rosharon on 3/27/2021. This outdoor clay shoot drew more than 100 shooters and 150 supporters who enjoyed a seafood extravaganza featuring Blackened Snapper Tacos, Ahi Tuna Sliders, R C Ranch Wagyu Sliders, Grilled Oysters De’Cun Ass, Crawfish and all the sides!!

In addition, live and silent auction items were donated by our very generous supporters and attendees enjoyed participating in a 50/50 raffle, games like the ring toss while being entertained all afternoon with our talented musicians Billie and Jeannie of Sidewynder along with Ezra Charles and the Works, and closing out the evening with Mainstreet!!
